Get to know one of our favourite local bands, and friends of the brand, Ocean Sleeper.
We linked up with our guy’s Ocean Sleeper for the Melbourne leg of their latest regional tour. We headed backstage after the gig and asked the boys a few questions about the band, their shows and what’s ahead.
Honestly, we just sat down and wrote a bunch of names on paper. We threw some ideas around but didn’t really settle on one until we started searching them online (Ionei).
We checked Google to see if anyone else had it, and when nothing else came up, we thought, "Why not?" And that’s how it stuck (Karl).
Lately, we've been doing push-ups before shows! Some prison workout stuff, you know? We get a good pump going before hitting the stage. It’s become a little ritual to get our blood flowing and get hyped up (Ionei).
Our favourite t-shirts would have to be the Witchcraft street tee and the Wire Street Tee. For Stan the Menith Mechanic Shirt is definitely a go-to, and Karl is into any sort of jersey!
I think we can all agree on having our instruments always help, but we also love our daily GYG (Guzman y Gomez) and having fresh outfits that don’t smell like sweat. We also need plenty of deodorant to cover the smell of sweat.
“Heaven” is one of my favourites to perform. The crowd always loves it, no matter where we’re performing. Our other top songs for performing are “Kind of Nothing” and “Forever Sinking” (Karl).
For us it would have to be either Rod Laver Area or Fed Square, both being in Melbourne where it all started (Stan).
We’re planning to catch a flight overseas and hang out for a month. Maybe do some shows in America, you know, see how things go internationally. It’s something we’ve talked about for a while now. We want to expand our reach and get the music out there. And, of course, we’re working on a merch collab with KSCY!
