OUR PEOPLE: GABOSKI

Welcome to ‘Our People’, an explorative culture series that connects us with likeminded creatives to pick their brain with a few short fire questions.

OUR PEOPLE: GABOSKI

We tapped the man behind the camera of our recent shoots for a couple of questions. A talented photographer, videographer & friend of the brand who's helped bring our creative concepts to life.

What inspired you to get into photography, and how long have you been doing it?

I don't remember a time in my life that I haven't been taking photos. Even since such a young age I was always taking photos and making videos on my iPhone 3GS of me and my friends skating and just doing random stuff. I've been taking photos since I was a little kid, but I guess I've been taking it seriously for maybe the last 8 to 10 years. Full time for the last 3 to 4 years. And professionally for the last two years.

WHERE DO YOU FIND YOUR CREATIVE INSPIRATION?

I find creative inspiration from the idea of creating a piece of work that stands out. I take inspiration from a lot of old campaigns and editorial photoshoots as i find they are always super interesting and creative as well as modern photography. There are so many amazing photographers out there at the moment and i feel what makes them so good is the fact that they are unique, and that inspired me more to spend a long time finding and fine tuning my style of photography as one day i would be honoured to be considered to be a photographer of their level.

You’ve worked on a few KSCY shoots with us now—what’s been your favourite so far?

So far, I'd have to say that the first shoot that we did together is my favourite shoot. Just the way that everything came together from the lighting to the talents to how the team flowed on that very, very first shoot. It's just set the bar. Even though that has been my favourite shoot, I feel like every single shoot from then we've done a better and better job.

What bands have you been listening to lately?

A few bands I’ve been listening to lately are honestly anything shoegaze, post-hardcore or midwest emo. So like Citizen, Title Fight, Sleeping With Sirens and La Dispute. The list could go on for forever though. I love sad lyrical music and I feel like my style of photography reflects that.

What’s your plan for the year ahead?

My plan for the year ahead is to just keep shooting fun stuff, keep creating pieces of work that are unique and special to me. I want to keep on working with new brands and new faces and expanding my portfolio, doing the stuff that I love.
